But even our most basic air handlers are equipped with multi-speed indoor blower, and out top-of-the-line models have variable speed motors providing just the right amount of warm or cool air to keep you at the right temperature all day and all night. American Standard's variable speed motor automatically varies its speed, based on heating and cooling demands. This creates the potential for energy and cost savings. A variable speed air handler also ramps up slowly instead of coming on all at once, so there is not a sudden blast of air.
